Lori Garcia Sander for House District 65
Putting Colorado Citizens and Families First
With single-party rule over the past 7+ years, Colorado Democrats have taken our state down the wrong path. Parents and employers are concerned about our education system. Crime is on the rise, good jobs are fleeing, and the cost of living is soaring. These failures did not happen in a vacuum. They are a direct result of the decisions made at our State Capitol down in Denver. As a former public-school teacher and principal, I’ve invested too much into the future of our state to sit back and watch it continue to decline.
I’m running because we need someone conservative in the legislature who has actually worked in public schools for the past 25 years to help advocate for and write policies that are best for students and teachers. I also support parents’ rights to school choice – including charter, private, and home-school options.
I’m running because I’m concerned about increasing theft, drug, and violent crime rates in Colorado. Current far-left policies emanating from our legislature are more focused on helping criminals get out of consequences rather than ensuring the safety of our citizens and families.
I’m running because I see the effects of Democrats’ policies that are decimating agriculture and oil & gas, two of the largest revenue-creating industries in Colorado.
My life has been dedicated to helping people and doing what I can to make my community the best it can be.
My Goals as Your Representative:
Currently, Colorado’s legislature has a strong Democrat majority, which means Republicans have virtually no say in the Colorado state house. I believe that Colorado’s citizens benefit most when there is two-party governance and Republicans and Democrats are required to work together to pass legislation. I will keep HD-65 in conservative hands, and holding this seat helps keep Colorado House Republicans out of the super-minority. While Republican bills may not get heard, we can make amendments that provide common-sense legislative balance to benefit Coloradans.
I will work to ensure that we continue to fully-fund our schools *every year* without raiding TABOR funds and ensure that we support school districts with safety on campuses and in classrooms.
I will work with the solution-oriented Republican caucus to work toward reductions in income and property tax rates.
Additionally, I will back policies that recognize the value and necessity of agriculture and oil and gas to support our state’s economy and legislation that prioritizes the safety and well-being of Colorado citizens.
