FORMER TEACHER AND PRINCIPAL
LORI GARCIA SANDER
ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN FOR
STATE REPRESENTATIVE – HOUSE DISTRICT 65
(EATON, CO) — Eaton resident Lori Garcia Sander announced on Monday that she will be running for Colorado State House of Representatives in District 65. HD65 encompasses the Weld and Larimer County towns of Eaton, Windsor, Severance, Timnath, Wellington, Laporte, and Bellevue, and it includes addresses east of I-25 for Fort Collins and Loveland and the northern and western edge of Johnstown.
Garcia Sander, a conservative and life-long resident of Weld County, has been a public-school teacher and administrator in Larimer and Weld Counties for the past 25 years. After Representative Mike Lynch announced his intention to vacate the HD65 seat to run for Congressional District 4, Garcia Sander decided the time is right for her to take her passion for public service to the state level.
From Garcia Sander:
“I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Representative. With single-party rule over the past 4 years, Colorado Democrats have taken our state down the wrong path. Parents and employers are concerned about our education system. Crime is on the rise, good jobs are fleeing, and the cost of living is soaring. These failures did not happen in a vacuum. They are a direct result of the decisions made at our State Capitol down in Denver. As a former public-school teacher and principal, I’ve invested too much into the future of our state to give up now.
• I’m running because we need someone conservative in the legislature who has actually worked in public schools for the past 25 years to help advocate for and write policies that are best for students and teachers. I also support parents’ rights to school choice – including charter, private, and home-school options.
• I’m running because I’ve watched too many of my students’ families, teaching colleagues, and friends struggle to afford to live in Colorado, and we need to address the extraordinary rise in property tax rates as well as issues surrounding homelessness.
• I’m running because I’m concerned about increasing theft, drug, and violent crime rates in Colorado. Current far-left policies emanating from our legislature are more focused on helping criminals get out of consequences rather than ensuring the safety of our citizens and families.
• I’m running because I see the effects of Democrats’ policies that are decimating agriculture and oil & gas, two of the largest revenue-creating industries in Colorado.
• My life has been dedicated to helping people and making my community the best it can be.”
Garcia Sander is a strong supporter of smaller government, personal responsibility, and individual rights and freedoms. She is a champion of Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR), she favors an “all of the above” model of energy development and use, and she believes in addressing the root causes of homelessness and unaffordability for many Coloradans by finding real solutions to the problems.
